Our Philosophy

Our mission at Nature’s Little Learners is to nurture children into confident, critical thinkers who carry a lifelong appreciation for their health and well-being.

Whether it’s through reading, creative activities, exploration, or learning, we are dedicated to fostering their personal, social, and emotional development in a playful, curious manner. This focus empowers children to understand the importance of values, respect each other’s uniqueness, and display care and enthusiasm for our environment and resources.

As a result, children in our care grow into strong, self-assured, and independent explorers of the world around them. Our little learners are encouraged to draw inspiration from their own limitless imaginations, honing their critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities, giving them the confidence to share their own views and ideas whilst being accepting of one another.

A Message From Our Owner

After dedicating 11 years to Early Years education, I often find myself reflecting on the evolution of my teaching methods. While my education certainly played a significant role in shaping this transformation, my true inspiration comes from viewing the world through a child’s perspective, where every moment is filled with curiosity.

The journey of Nature’s Little Learners started in 2009 with my initial group: Jack, Megan, and Scarlett. Watching these children interact with each other and explore the world around them was wonderful. One day, as I observed their imaginative approach to play, it struck me how far they had come in their development. It was at that moment that Early Years was no longer my job – it was my passion!

Caring for children each day means you really get to know them and gain a deeper understanding of their distinct personalities and qualities. Watching my first group

of children grow from being tiny young babies to creative, friendly and accepting best friends was an amazing experience. It gave me a sense of achievement to think that working alongside these children and their wonderful families had truly enabled me to ‘see the world through the eyes of a child’

Our Structured curriculum

Following the EYFS

We follow the Early years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) - combined with a number of modern learning approaches- such as Montessori, curiosity approach and forest school learning activities to provide children with a balanced and varied curriculum which supports their wellbeing along with helping them learn and develop through play.

Each unique child needs a tailored approach to learning. We focus on providing the right environment for children to flourish - including open ended resources, musical, stories, songs & rhyme - along with quality adult - child interactions to extend learning.

Action-packed extracurricular activities

We work with other amazing professionals from the local area - who attend the setting to provide additional weekly activities - Dance, yoga, sign & sign, adventure babies, football classes, forest school activities and much more.

Created to inspire children's curiosity through a well planned indoor play environment - offering an array of beautiful open ended resources, each room is designed to support children's innate urge to explore their surroundings and use their own imaginations when learning through play

Both my children have attended Nature's Little Learners (one of them is still there), the setting itself is so lovely and welcoming. I cannot recommend enough!

After a bad experience with a previous nursery I was reluctant to put my son into another, however Nature's Little Learners Hornbeam has restored my faith. My son settled straight away, the team are caring and I go away knowing that he is happy in their care which is so important as a mother. The nursery offers beautiful facilities and my son loves the amazing trips, adventures and forest school activities. His development in terms of recognising numbers and letters has come on leaps and bounds in the space of 4 weeks which really shows the time and effort the staff put into the children in their care. I cannot recommend enough!

Really happy to have found a local nursery which I'm as happy with as she is

My daughter started in preschool here in April. The staff are really caring. She loves going every day. She is always busy playing making modelling clay, painting and baking and the slide in the garden room is so big and fast she loves it. Despite not having a garden all the children go outdoors every day. The woods are just round the corner for exploring train spotting and animal spotting. They've even been on trips to the playground, the cafe and even took a train to Harrogate to spend the day at Valley Gardens. The nursery has a resident tortoise who she likes feeding and even bathing every once in a while. Really happy to have found a local nursery which I'm as happy with as she is.

He absolutely loves coming here

Gorgeous setting, so glad I found this nursery for my little one. He absolutely loves coming here which makes me so much happier about going to work. He really enjoys the forest school and he has learnt so much. The staff are amazing and keep me well informed on a daily basis. I wouldn't send him anywhere else.
